This June a meeting of the board was called for the Maine Deer and Elk Farmers Association. MDEFA voted to hire Skye Austin as their Executive Director. Skye will be in charge of fundraising, education, marketing, web maintenance, grant writing, and public relations. MDEFA also made the decision to vote in Mark Drew as our new board President. Mark Drew is a full time deer farmer having been employed as the farm manager of the Shakaree Red Deer Farm since 1993. He is the current President of The Maine Deer and Elk Farmers Association, and also currently serves on the Board of Directors for The New England Deer and Elk Farmers Association, and The North American Hunting Ranch Council. In the past Mark held a two year term as the President of the North American Deer Farmers Association and served on the Board of Directors for the Cervid Livestock Foundation. We are very excited to have Mark’s clear vision and industry expertise to help with leadership in our new direction as an organization. I would like to thank Skye for getting our new web site up and running.

This is a great site and I hope more deer farmers will join in on the discussion.

Congrats you guys .......good to hear things are going in the right direction for you guys.........good to see another Deer Org. up and running!! We need as many as we can get in this industry.

Hope all goes well for you folks up there. I think another thank you should go to Shawn Shafer and Whitney O'Daniels as well, for their efforts. They were very instrumental in moving everything the right direction. Congrats to all.
