I'm am seriously considering using the fly predators this summer. Wondering if there are any deer farms that use them and the success you have had. When you go into the order information...they don't have deer as a livestock option. So if you are using them, do you use "other small" or "other large" to order? The price difference is alot so I would like to hear from someone that orders them.
We've used them the past 2 years. I order under 'other small' and then you can put in the amount of area you want to cover. We still had some flies, but I can't imagine what it would be like if we didn't use those! They mail them to you so many days apart....just make sure to check your mail box everyday (because they can get too hot and die) and WHATEVER you do...DO NOT lay the bag on your desk waiting for them to hatch and then cover it up with paperwork because you're too busy outside with the fawns!! lol Talk about creepy-crawlies!! ; ) Overall - my opinion - I like them.

I tried them a couple years. Had as many if not more flies than ever. Might work okay in a small pen, but I know they won't work on 13 acres!

This is my second year using them. Last year was my first year with them and I did notice a lot less flies than the year before. Could have been a coincidence? I just got my first shipment of the predators last week, we will see how they do this year.

Anyone else......out of 216 members on this forum, only 3 have tried the fly predators? I just thought by the advertising that more deer farmers were using them!!

We have been using fly predators for 4 or 5 years now. It is very difficult to tell how well they do in controlling flies but I will say that a friend used them one year, decided that they did little good and didn't use them the next year. He came to our farm that second year and was amazed at how many fewer flies we had on our deer and he now uses them every year. We order ours from The Source at 800-380-3560. We will continue to use them as well as traps for the adult flies.
