There. By starting a thread called Deer Tracking announcements, I don't need to start a new thread every time I want to check in with a Deer Tracking notice...!:D

We are just finalizing the Last issue of 2009, should be going to print tomorrow (aiming for mailing December 1st). Thank you to all who shared their Deer with us all through advertisments, emails and calls! Also a HUGE thanks to all who stepped up to write or submit pictures or give 'Ask the Expert' advice. You are appreciated!;)

So we are closing out the 2009 year with a Deer Tracking 80 pg issue entitled "Defining Frame."

Included in the contents section:

-Redefining Frame…The Law of First Impression
-CCA Update
-NADeFA News
-Ouch! …Deer Legs & Cuts-With Granny Creek
-Diatomaceous Earth (DE)- Uses, Fact and Fiction
-Interview with Eugene Flees: Focus on Frame
-‘Free Agent’ Update
-Frame of Mind….Thinking Inside the Box
-Five Deer in the Kitchen are Worth Twelve More in the Spring
-Big Single Brows
-Racks Too Big For Bodies
-Accountability & Integrity: True Industry Success
-Business Card Directory
-Scoring for Frame
-From the Editor-Discussing the tough issues

For those of you who wonder what types of subjects we include in Deer Tracking Magazine, I have decided to share a few excerpts from some articles in this issue...

Free Agent Update Excerpt:
I love it when an already great story takes an unexpected turn. In the last issue of Deer Tracking, deer fanatics across North America (hunters and producers alike) read, in startled amazement, of what was obviously the highest scoring yearling whitetail in the world. With the obvious, however, came wonder, mystery and maybe doubt. Pictures showed a truly incredible amount of antler, but would the young rack really score the reported 350-375”? And while lack of certainty surrounded score, it abounded aplenty in pedigree. A couple parentage combinations awaited DNA proof while readers puzzled and predicted their way through the mysterious tale. Now, Deer Tracking is honoured to present, as planned, the updates to “A Story Too Big For a Title.” Unplanned, we also present a twist to the tale!.....

Scoring For Frame Excerpt:
The unusual has become the mundane, the non-typical has become the norm, and a race for inches has been foiled by a fleeing frame. That describes the present plight of deer farming across North America. We all agree we need frame…we just don’t agree on what frame is.....

Integrity & Accountability: True Success Excerpt

I may be idealistic, but I believe that integrity has less to do with what we do than with who we are. It should be the benchmark by which we
measure every decision, action, or purpose in life and business. Without integrity, there is no accountability. Without accountability, there is no
integrity. They are clearly co-dependent values. Thus said, this article may be as difficult to read as it was to write. There will inevitably be two
groups of readers, those who agree heartily with what they read and already practice it, and those who become indignant because they don’t. Any
one of our readers may interpret it as direct fire, but I must clarify that this is not intended for any one person or group. Rather
than taking a “rifle shot” at individuals, it is more productive to aim the “shotgun” at a disheartening and worsening trend in an industry of which I love being a part, but truly am beginning to fear. It is a reminder to myself, to others, and to a collective industry to be committed to conducting
business in a manner that reflects honesty, integrity and ethical conduct…always...

From the Editor Excerpt:
...I prefer a feel-good, flowery flow to my “From the Editor” column, but Tara’s integrity and accountability article spurs me to boldness. Refusing to look at that flag outside doesn’t change the fact that it’s blowing, and ignoring industry issues does not negate their existence nor allow me to claim ignorance. So, responsibility winning, with a combination of encouragement and challenge I welcome all readers to consider carefully.....

...And much much more in this issue!!

Tara,

I did look back and find the issue from earlier this fall. It had a green cover. I did also receive this latest issue this past Monday Jan 4 2010. I was just curious as to why it takes so long to get to me?

Keep up the good work. It always brightens my day when I see an envelope from you in the mail. I know it is about deer !!

God Bless !!

Hello to all!!

Well that time has come once again, where the anticipation of spring babies brings excitement and the Spring issue of Deer Tracking Magazine is upon us.

This is just a quick note to remind everyone that deadline for ads was Jan 25. If you have need of ad space in this issue, the plan is to have it with us at the NADeFA convention March 18-20 in Toledo, OH. Space is sold out but in case there are some final openings and if you need an ad in the Spring issue, we can put you on a first come first served listing.

Also, if you have any changes to existing ads, please advise as soon as you can.

If you have already booked an ad, and have not sent, please sent to us as soon as possible, as hoping to sign off this Friday (Feb 19). It is crunch time! :)

In This issue:
-The Allure of an Auction
-King Kong's story
-Top 30 analysis
-Selecting a Sire
-Antler/feed
-Marsh Valley Whitetails & Keith Warren
-Update on CWD research on our farm
...and more

We look forward to hearing from you. Working hard on this issue as we speak. Space very limited, first come first served basis.

Happy fawning and may all your antler growth have great beginnings!!

Thanks,
Tara, Randy & boys <><

Hey Jeremy,
Sorry- just signed off on Spring issue 10 minutes ago. We were booked solid and weren't quite able to fit everybody in. But summer is available and booking fast already. Had two other calls today like yours wanting in, but just missing this one.
Check your messages. Thanks!

Hello to all!

Well what an exciting time of year, waiting in anticipation of those spotted treasures! We love to share your excitement, so if you have a great story or experience to share about fawning please feel free to give us a call!

On another note, we are presently preparing the Summer issue of Deer Tracking Magazine. If you require advertising in this issue or need to change your ad, please let us know as soon as possible to reserve your space. Ad space is limited. We need ads submitted by May 1st at the latest (as we hope to mail out this issue before June 1st.)

If you are marketing trophy stock/hunt stock for fall...This is the issue to market those bucks, as most ranchers have already spoken for the majority of their bucks by the time the fall issue rolls around.

This Summer issue will include some of the following topics:
-A Scientific Approach to the Deer Business
-On the road to NADeFA (March 2010)
-Let's Learn about Milk Calcium!
-Marketing-Always Necessary, Always Possible!
-Beware of Bucks Gone Bad
-Choose your market- Define your strategy
-And much more...

Do you have any articles to contribute? Please feel free to contact us.

ON a separate note, becasue we took the Spring issue down to NADeFA with us, the mailout went out a bit later than usual to those who were unable to pick it up at the conference. Mailed March 30, so if you have not yet received, it should be in your mailbox this week or next (depending on where you are located, some deliveries can take up to 3-4 weeks, while others receive theirs within a week...but that is snail mail for you!) :)

Thanks. Have a great growing season! We look forward to pictures of summer growth!

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up...this issue of Deer Tracking may be a bit late. We have been working on it, but Randy's Dad just passed away on Saturday as Randy was rushing him to the hospital. It has been a tough few days and we are extremely busy right now taking care of two farms, and running errands, doing meetings and organizing funeral. This issue was due to be in print and mailed by June 1st, but we may need to extend that print deadline. Ads though are still needed (deadline was May 1).

If you have an ad that needs to be in this Summer issue or if you have reserved space, please send in as soon as possible. That would help us out a great deal as we are tied up on the phone pretty steady with family matters so we will be limited in how many phone reminders we can give. Thanks for your consideration.

Your support in this is much appreciated!

Randy, Tara and Family,

Sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. Our family will keep him in our prayers. Just knowing you a short time I see how important family and friends are in your life. You both lead by example. To you Father may the Lord Bless and keep you, may He shine his face upon you and be Gracious to you. Rest in Peace Mr Barks

Hello!
Things have slowed down a bit here on our end, but still not back to normal.

We still have a number of ads/articles outstanding. If you have not yet sent your ad/article in (May 1st deadline) please send as soon as possible so we have all parts available for formating. We are working on Deer Tracking as we are able, but our time is still divided.
Thanks,
Tara <><

Last update for the summer 2010 issue!

If you have been meaning to subscribe, you won't want to miss this one- it will be a collectors edition! It is presently being printed and will be mailed out soon.

I always like to post his reminder as it helps save you shipping costs on those "after mailout" requests. Subscriptions are $26, 47, or 65 for 1, 2 or 3 yr. (Shipping costs if you miss the main mail-out are usually $7.00 /magazine, plus the magazine cost.) A subscription form can be downloaded from www.deertracking.com if you like.

We print 4 times a year (with the seasons) and we truly try to maintain a presence as an information resource for producers. Scroll up for a description of some of what you will see included in this Summer issue.

If you are sending a check in the next day or do, (otherwise you will be added to the fall list) please let me know so I can add you to the list, and we will just trust that payment and magazine will cross in the mail :)

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions,
Thanks! May your summer season see huge growth and healthy babies!

Hi Randy and Tara-Lynn,
I just read about Randy's dad. We're sorry to hear about the loss. We'll be holding up your family in our prayers! I heard a rumor that your family might make a guest appearance at Outdoorsman's Camp, again? We have a meeting tonight to talk about some more of the details for camp. It would be great to see you. Our whole family will be there for the entire week! Well, we're looking forward to getting the Summer issue. Take care, and God Bless!
