Does anyone use a West Nile vaccination.
We have a creek through our pens and the mosquito's can get bad...but our deer are like pin cousions and my check book takes a hit, but If I leave one out...I know what would happen:(

We have had West Nile disease in our area and it has taken a small number of livestock . I have not ever vaccinated for this but maybe should consider it--mosquitos get pretty thick here also in MN. I actually did not know there was a vaccine for West Niles--can you get it from your local vet?

I have vaccinated my horse for years, but did not know that our deer were susceptible.

One of my Rocky Mountain goat customers had goats that did get it and died. My Vet suggested Prevenile as it only requires one shot. I did use it on my goats with no problem. I did one and waited a month to see if there would be a problem. I plan to try it on one deer this year. We get a lot of West Nile in my area both in people and horses. So I would think this would be the best choice of products to use in our deer.

I guess my question would be has anyone had a deer die from West Nile?? Even though we have it all around us in summer I have never had one die from it.
