What vaccinations do ya'll recommend for fawns? What do you give them when they drop, when they are released? Does it very by region of the country? What about Texas? (Like everyone else, we have northern genetics).

We don't vaccinate until 8-10 weeks old. We give a booster 21 days later, and an annual booster as well. The passive immunity in the colostrum will fight off the bugs in the vaccines, rendering them usless in terms of the fawn developing an immunity. They aren't able to process it into their own immune system until they are a little older, and out from under the passive immunity of the doe (even if bottle raised, the mothers milk still establishes the immunities in the fawn). The only thing I give at birth is the C/D anti-toxin - it is just an extra boost until their immune system starts to come into its own.

At birth we iodine the navel with a mild solution.......we give 3 ccs of Bar Guard orally......1/2 cc Bo-Se sub Q........3ccs of C & D Anti Toxin (do again at 8 weeks)........3ccs of Poly Serum sub Q..........and at 2 weeks we give them Fusoguard (helps prevent lumpy jaw)(must vaccinate again in 4 weeks).......we bottle feed all of our babies so we are able to follow this program.....it has been very successful for us.

I had all my pregnant does TB tested in Feb, my vet advised me to give the C&D vaccine to the does and it would carry over to the fawns so I would not have to give it to them at birth. Any thoughts on this?

We would be interested in hearing what people who do not bottle feed give their newborn fawns. We have been trying a few different things. Since we try not to bottle feed unless absolutely necessary, we only have the one chance to give them anything until fall when we separate them out.

EHD Vaccine 1cc dose
Unvaccinated does: Fawn EHD at birth, 4-5 weeks of age, and 12 weeks of age
Vaccinated does, bottle fed fawns: 6 weeks, 9 weeks, and 12 weeks of age
Vaccinated does, pasture fawns: 8-10 weeks of age and 12-14 weeks of age

This is what Dr. Shipley has recommended I do. Last year I didn't give the fawns EHD Vac, and Lost my biggest and best bred Buck fawn to EHD late Sept. I thought EHD Vac @ birth, that young was to harsh. This year I will give it.
I am giving my does their vac booster approx 3 week before the fawns are born, so I will probably only give them 2 shots after they are born. Mother raised fawn just once.
