cost of a semen draw??

We have never done a semen draw. How much does it cost? Who does it in Alabama?

I dont know about in Alabama but one time while looking on great lakes sires they had prices for semen collection. This could at least give you a ball park idea of how much it would cost.

Earl Souva of Great Lakes Sires travels all over the US. I know he is in Texas sometimes so he would probably go to Alabama.

Karl, it is right around $1,000. It can fluctuate based on what you had to pay for the persons travel costs.

question about who you all usually have draw semen for you. do you all prefer to have a vet do it or do you hire anyone that has the knowledge and equipment to do so?

I have only used vets here. I can't see having someone who is not a vet do the work. When your most prized bucks are laying on the table why would you not want a qualified vet on hand? I have used Dr Bringans, Dr Gorley and Dr Favero. I love the way they not only collect the semen but also monitor the health of the buck while collecting. I listed the 3 vets that have been here, but that is not to say that others like Dr Shipley and such wouldn't be just as good.

Yep I collected last year and it was around 1,000.00 dollars...you want to get an experienced vet that has collected (Whitetails) before. I would not just get any old vet....get one that has experience..........I used Doc Briggans.......there are many others...good Luck!!

Talked to Dr Bingans at the Alabama deer auction this weekend. It is about $1,000 plus travel.
