Can anyone tell me when is a safe time or the soonest you can dart a doe that is feeding fawns, or should it not be done. Will it affect the fawns thanks Ed

Ed, what are you needing to dart her for? Whay meds are you planning to use? That will help answer question better.

tranquilizer, I have about 10 does that i will have to move in the next few weeks. i was going to move them before they fawned but there was no rush so i did not want to press my luck. Now that a lot of them have fawned i would like to move them as soon as possible with out hurting the doe or fawns

My rule of thumb is no darting of a doe 30 days prior to giving birth and 4 weeks after (when the fawns began eating feed, just in case there is a catastrophy) but that's my rule, I have had to dart several days prior to fawning on an emergency basis and the fawns were born just fine. I think the dosage rate, type of drug, stress induced, temperature, etc. are extremely important if you have to dart close to fawning.
