I'm going to be posting several deer in the next 2-3 weeks so I thought I'd start our own thread and post them here. I'll post them the old way and then if anyone wants larger, better pictures I'll e-mail them. Most of these early ones are not the final ones. They are still growing and seem to be really pushing late this year :)

I'll start with Maxbo Impact at Age 2. We are real happy with him! He has double out-riggers that both split but I couldn't get both of them in the same picture without losing other tines. He is a 5X5 with a few extras and I'm guessing he is about 22-24 inside. He is Sudden Impact over Maxbo.

Yellow 35 is not yet DNA'd but we think he is Waylon over Awesome.

Here is RolexBy10. He has 16+ inch tines. We like the long tines and will use him for that reason.

Sam,

By far the most exceptional bunch of deer I know of. With more to come.;)
Congratulations on your hard work and perseverance.

Thanks for posting Hardwood, I have been waiting on pins and needles wanting to see how he has been doing. Like the saying goes "Good things come to those who wait".

In your spare time :D can you pm me some more photos of Hardwood when they are available. Want to put them in my file since I am going to be using him in my AI program this year.

I am going to be starting a post of all the Timberjack sons that we know of both good and bad. Everyone feel free to put them on here :) I think you'll see way more good than bad. We don't have one yet that hasn't been over 200 by 3. Most by age 2.

To start with here is a 3 year old from Dave Reed's farm. He called today and said his Timberjack line is out-performing everthing else on his farm. He went on to name all the big A.I. sires he used and said his biggest young bucks were all out of his Timberjack line. Thanks Dave for the info. Here is his 3 year old buck. Thanks for looking! :D

Sorry about being a little bit out of touch lately. Been busy chasing the ghost! :)

For all you non-believers here is Timberjack in August. He started too late and never did catch up! I didn't take many pictures thinking he would put on a late burst. It didn't happen but he is still real respectable and a GREAT GREAT producer. We have used a lot of different bucks but he has out performed them all so we will use him heavily again this year. His yearlings and 2 year olds are simply amazing. I hope to post pictures of his many sons real soon.

Here is the video:

http://www.dabuckchannel.com/video/533/TimberJack-2010-Whitetail-Dreams

We knocked down RolexBy10 today and cut and scored him. When I finally got my hands on him it took my breath away. His G2 on his left side was 18 6/8 and his right was 17 1/8. His final score was 361 4/8 at age 3 with 2 broken points that we didn't count. He had 47 scoreable points. I'll post pictures of his cutoffs tomorrow. I'll include a ruler and his scoresheet for the non-believers :D

RolexBy10 is Rolex (one of the best producers) over HighRoller (Highway 10's womb sister). The anchor doe is Timberjacks mother!

SJames
10-27-2010, 08:56 PM
Here is a picture showing the left cutoff from RolexBy10. We don't like to cut them very close so we left about 3 inches and several points on his head. I'm hoping the extra weight will help them fall off late Winter. This G2 was 18 6/8 and thats conservative! We've never had a g2 that long! :) The ruler is 12 inches long and 1 inch wide. The soda is for reference on the mass.

Thanks for looking!:D

Hey everyone, sorry I neglected to post the winners :(

When we drew, we went ahead and drew 10 names instead of 5 and everyone will get a free straw of their choosing:

We have been super busy hunting whitetails (chasing the ghost), working deer, and drawing semen so I haven't been on the forums very much. Sorry about that!

If you are a winner and you haven't got an e-mail from me, send me one and I'll send you the choices. There are about 40 bucks to choose from.

Also if you have bought any semen and have any questions about transfers, e-mail me and I'll take care of it. We generally transfer all semen within a couple days of receiving transaction completed notices from WE. We have a file for every customer and can look up any purchases and transfers for anyone. We REALLY DO appreciate the bids and purchases and value all the relationships we have in this business.

The winners were:

William Wells
Charles Bich
Jason McDowell
Chris Winsey
Kert Steward
Steve Morton
Mark McMillan
Tom Taylor
Gary Bartz
Jason Roy

Congrats the the winners! If you didn't win, thanks for the purchases. We will have another big give away in the Spring! :D

Maxin Missle was put down by Barry McGrew in IA a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I was unable to be there and Barry didn't feel comfortable with all the complicated scoring on those un-real brow tines. However, we did get a good collection and the semen is at Dan's waiting to be put in the does. So no worries on that!

Barry did a great job with him this past year and we are just guessing him to be around 300. Barry took a lot of measurements so we should have an un-official score soon. I had seen him in person twice last Summer and he is VERY impressive.

I think the A.I. is scheduled for Friday. E-mail me and I'll let you know how it went.

Every once in a while I get REALLY surprised! :)

Here is a buck that we harvested a couple weeks ago. He was 421 6/8 SCI and an incredible 33 4/8 inside. He had broken off about 30 inches of antler that wasn't included in the score.

I'll give you more information on this incredible buck soon! All I can say is he put my heart rate at a dangerous level! :D

SJames
12-01-2010, 10:33 PM
By the way, the ghost is dead! He followed a hot doe into a field during the first week of Novemeber. He scored in the mid 170's but had broken off several points. It was the second time we had seen him this year. Brian saw him the night before for a brief second chasing a doe across a ridge top.

Goes to show what the ladies can do to you! :p

Wow Sam, 421"! I think I know and own some of the secret. He has to be out of Queen Alexandria. Black Magic?

SJames
12-05-2010, 08:02 PM
I found out today that I made a mistake! We harvested a buck in early November that I thought might be the ghost. It was only the second time we had ever seen this deer and he was a 5X5 with forked G2s. Knowing the ghost, I was surprised that this deer had showed himself!

But today we found the real ghost. The skull was in a brushpile and we were REALLY lucky that it didn't have a single chew mark on it anywhere. We were looking for a wounded buck that we also found.

This buck was amazing. He grew up in our preserve and I have never laid eyes on him. I knew he was there from the game cameras but he was so smart he never showed himself to even one of about 75 or more hunters in 2009! From the evidence we found and the condition of the antlers, I'd say he died late last year.

Here is the game camera picture and the skull we found today (the date and time were not correct on the game camera picture, it was taken in July 2009 at about midnight). The respect I have for these fine animals just grew another notch! :D

By the way he scored 191! I'll post some more videos of a couple other "native" (born and raised in the preserve) bucks that have eluded us all fall.

Four Seasons Whitetails

Show us some sam!!!! Did you ever get a true score on maxxin missle????

SJames
12-29-2010, 08:12 PM
We had been seeing this rather nice looking 8 point on camera from July through last week. We had seen it a time or two in the preserve but never seemed to be able to find it when a hunter wanted it. Last week I put out 6 digital cameras next to the feeders in the preserve. From last week through Christmas, the buck was showing up at a feeder at 1:30 in the afternoon and then around midnight. I assumed the buck was a native deer born and raised in the preserve.

After calling a few die-hard hunters, I finally got one to come try to get him. We made a plan. We would sleep in (you got to love that!) eat breakfast at 8:00 am and then go to the stands the rest of the day.

On the second day (yesterday) he showed up at 1:15. That was the end of him. He ended up having a tear in his ear from a tag from long ago so I'm not sure where he came from. He scored 158!

SJames
12-29-2010, 08:13 PM

There are so many great bucks in that pedigree it will be hard to get them all in one name. So how about something like " A-List " or " Sam's Dream " Just a thought. But a name like " Timbo Impact " might cover them all.

I took my 10 year old daughter to one of Sams preserves this past weekend for a whitetail hunt while school was out. Sam never seizes to amaze me. We were there less than 24 hours, in that time Sam took care of, entertained and guided my daughter and 5 out of state hunters. He didnt just drop us off at a stand, he took us to a stand the first evening and then he climbed to the top of a 60 foot grain silo to glass the bottoms--sure enough- he spotted a good buck and came and picked us up on an ATV put Sis in position and we made a drive to her-Im not good on a computer, maybe Sam will post the pic. Every hunter that I have ever seen in Sams camp leaves with a smile and comes back to hunt again. Maybe hunting inside a fence isnt as challenging, but I have hunted for 30 years and never killed a 240" buck like she did this week. The smile on my daughters face said it all. This isnt her first buck She has went with me on several cold, long hunts and her first buck was a spike. I think Sam said Kennedys buck was about the 130th buck taken this year on that ranch. Oh, by the way Sam put some 1 1/2" thick steaks on the grill and they were the best Ive ever had--When the deer business is gone-- Sam can open a steakhouse, but from the many hunters I have talked to in his camps, I think Sam will be guiding for along time. One hunter this year told me that he was on his 15 th hunt with Sam. Sam --YOU THE MAN!

Thanks Darren,

I really appreciate the kind words.

There is nothing I like better than to take the kids hunting. At this point in the season, I am getting a little tired but when Kennedy showed up with that big smile on her face, she lit up the deer camp. I had 4 other hunters here that were done hunting and wanted to stay an extra day just to see if she got her deer! They were not dissapointed! Here is a picture of Kennedy and her deer. Its a good thing she got her good looks from her mom! :p

I feel very lucky when a family decides to spend some of thier family time wth us. I have a family of six here right now shooting does and a few small bucks. They traveled all the way from South LA to spend thier break with us and some quality time together. The total cost for ALL 6 of them is less than 2500. They are not rich people. Just a nice middle class family that loves the outdoors.

By the way, its New Years Day. I wish everybody a great 2011. Lets all make a new resolution to work together to try to promote preserve hunting as an activity that can be enjoyed by the entire family. Happy New Year to all! :)

Whoops, I made a mistake on the pedigree for Blue 99. W-51 is out of Timberjack over Y-63 not Timberjack over B29. Sorry, I don't think it will affect the naming but lets keep trying anyway. The first pedigree is the wrong one the second is the correct one. :p

Here is the first one, B99 and another buck fawn from a fawn, B97. I need some more names for B99. I like Maximum Impact Jack, Jack Attack, Impact 727, and almost all the others. I just can't seem to get all the bucks in the name. Maybe just forget that and go with something else. Keep the ideas coming. Blue 97 could be fun too!

I am dreaming up a contest where I post the pedigrees of about 10-15 buck fawns and we try to guess which one will be the biggest at 1 BEFORE they even start to grow, followed by its score. There will be multiple winners! This will be a contest where you study pedigrees instead of looking at antlers.

Here again is the new and improved version of the pedigree for B99 and the pedigree for B97. Working on more. Thanks for looking! :)

Just got back from my friend Barry McGrew's farm and was, as usual very impressed with his deer. We made a partnership deal on a 3 year old named "Big Sexy". The pictures were good but when I saw him in person he was simply gorgeous! We knocked him down, took semen and scored him at 262 7/8. He was 23 inside :)

He has a really big 6X6 frame with extra points for score. I like that and hope he gets bigger! Way bigger! Bigger frame and lots of extras!

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yea Todd, Sam always seems to get in on all the good deals doesn't he. Really though, Sam will do a much better job of marketing Big Sexy than I would have. Marketing is one of my weaknesses no doubt about it, I do intend to work on that in the future though, with Sam's help of coarse...

Oh and Todd I have allot of nicknames but unfortunately Big Sexy wasn't one of them. We thought Big Sexy was a fitting name for the handsome dude.

Thanks again Sam for your interest in the Big Sexy...:)

Choice 2011 Maxbo Impact Doe Fawn from Ohio Farm - Ends Feb 8 9:30 PM Central

Winning bidder will get choice from any Maxbo Impact doe fawn born on our farm in OH. This includes approximately 17 bred does and 10 doe fawns. We are expecting about 10 to choose from.
2010 Doe fawns are out of Maxbo 727, Maxbo Impact, Hydro Power Ax, and Extreme Sneakers. Does are out of HighRoller, Maxbo 727, Sudden Impact, Highway 10, Rocky Roller, Waylon, Timberjack, Solid Oak, and Bucky Jr. Maxbo Impact live bred several does but backed up all the A.I. does and covered the doe fawns. So there should be quite a few to choose from. They will all be bottle started and arrangements can be made to finish the bottle feeding.
Imagine the pedigree this fawn of your choice could have! Sudden Impact and Maxbo top and bottom - WOW!And we feel like Maxbo Impact is getting ready to make a HUGE jump! We bred him hard as a yearling and that may have hurt him a little. He is in very good shape now. Get Ready!

50% Interest in Double Sudden Impact Buck Fawn! - B97 - WOW! - Ends Feb 8 - 8:30 PM Central

Winning bidder will get 50% Ownership in B97. B97 has a pedigree that is un-matched in the Whitetail Breeding World. He was born in July of 2011. Investor will have the option to purchase does or bring in some does to be bred. Of course he will own 50% on the semen rights. The investment will be 100% guaranteed until a successful collection is made on the buck.
Look at the pedigree of this fawn!!! Sudden Impact and Maxbo on top, Sudden Impact and Bucky Jr.on bottom

Lots of good stuff on Whitetail Exchange tonight. One bargain I like is a straw of Overload. Overload was 312 and 24 insde at 3. That might be the highest scoring MartyGraw 3 year old I know of. This deer was grown by Darren Deckard and is basically MartyGraw over Flees (Pretty Boy)!

Texas rights to Black Mamba are also on the exchange. That deer has Maxbo 727, and R5, the mother to Waldvogels Spyder plus the mother to Rocky Roller (Poncho Doe).
Lots of other great stuff on there. Attend the auction from your easy chair! :D Thanks for looking and good luck in 2011! :)

Here is a 2 week old picture of "The Chosen One". He is 2 and is a son of Maxbo 727/HighRoller. The HighRoller doe is R11 which is the dam to RolexBy10 and womb sister to Highway 10. RolexBy10 should score 450-500

We have 3 quality does for sale that end tonight on Whitetail Exchange that will be LIVE bred to "The Chosen One" No guessing here. Take advantage of this early sale....Thanks for looking :)
