Fawn gestation time

What is the average to maximum gestation time for fawns? We AI'd on Nov.10 last year making today 202 days. The does are bagged up and carrying but no fawns yet. We placed a clean up buck on Nov.28 in with the does. Should I stop crossing my fingers for the AI'd fawns?

Last year the does went between 191 days and 202 days. That was here at our place. I've heard of confirmed AI'd does going as long as 212 days, but that's certainly not the norm. I'd say you are still in the ballpark, but regardless of time I would have them DNA'd to be certain. Good luck.

I do agree. At this point I will DNA all fawns born after 200 days.

Thanks Monty. We are on day 210 right now and I still have 5 girls to go. I've never had AI girls go this long, but your experience still gives me hope! We used a Stickers' buck fawn to back up with, and based on the timing he may have been a busy little bugger. The girls left to fawn yet were AI'd to Maxbo, Big Guy, GD Romeo, and Rolls Royce... it will be a pretty big hit for us if they ALL missed.
We do have a pretty strong AI program set up for this fall again so if things don't work out... well, there's always next year!

In one of my old cattle manuals it lists whitetails from 197 to 220 don't know how accurate that is but thats whats listed for gestation periods . Got elk at 8 1/2 months ..???

Me too Mike. I am at 205 now and have a few that still look ready to go any day.
