Blood in Stool

I know I caused quite a ruckus (is that how u spell it?) last time when I started a new thread but I got another question. My runt buck fawn (9 days old) went from having diarreah for the first three days, to having good solid poo the last five, and now he is still having solid poo but there are traces of blood in his stool. He went at 11:00 tonight and that is the first sign of blood. I know I amy be getting a little paranoid but this little guy is worth a lot to me and I need him to be 100% healthy at all times. Any remedy is helpful. I don't know if this is something that need to be treated ASAP or somethin that can wait for 12 hours or so. His next feeding is at 6:00 AM. Let me know please!!

I would not be concerned unless it continues....in the past i have had a few fawns that showed a little blood in their stools one time and then it pretty much never came back.....now if it continues and his stool becomes runny you need to get it cultured right away and i would treat with Albon 5cc's for 5 days right away till you find out what the culture tells you.......but wait and see if it is just a one time deal first...just how i would treat it......others may have a better solution.......ZZ your usually up at this hour what are your thoughts??

only my thinking, but he just got over dirreaa never coul spell that, or scours that easier, could stem from that,i would keep eye for now, i think be fine, tommorow wil tell maybe only my thinking,DC Ps dennis you faster, was typing same again.

Wow that was fast. I wasn't getting too worried but I guess you can never be to cautious with the little ones. They havebeen peeing on their own now, but they still need stimulated to poo. I have been making them go poo only once a day. Is this right, or should they go more? Thanks for all the help though!!

if you get one good one ok, but i like twice, when the eating full bottle 4 times a day, Dc ps they go pretty quick on own, i quite after few days but watch,dont let them get to loose or clogged,DC i got no problem with soft,either,this will change when solids and grass become part of diet, sooner the better,Dc

If he is drinking fine and chipper don`t be too concerned about a little blood unless it persists or the stool starts to go watery. The resaon I say this is because when to stool stays in the bowl too long and they force it out it breaks little blood vessels in the intestines and you`ll see a little blood show up around the outsides of the pelleted turd. This should clear up in about two more poopies. If you notice the blood every bowl movement and it gets watery then be concerned with ecoli or coccidia. Just my thinking.

We had heard that you can use a penicillin called "pen-aqueous" to help with the blood. His stool is still solid but got a little bit loose when he pooed at noon. A trusted deer farmer who we got breeder does off of told us this. Does it sound right?

I just found a buck fawn that was left on the mother that has a bloody and watery stool. Just want to know what to give it if it is ecoli or coccidia. I dont know how long it has been this way. Just noticed it right now. We did treat with C&D Antitoxin a little after birth and then 24 hours later. He is just over two weeks old. Would more C&D Antitoxin work or what should we do?

We used a shot of pen-aqueous once a day for three days. Our buck fawn only had blood; his stool never got too runny but it did start to thin out, so we used the shot and he is back to solid, pelleted poo.

I have a pied doe pooing what looks like mucus with blood in it. She just got over a bad dose of diahreah. Any suggestions?

Usually I use 1/2cc 2x per day of Duramycin for 3 days for diahreah

That`s fine if your dealing with Ecoli but if your dealing with coccidia your gonea need to go to a sulfa drug such as Albon, corrid or sulfural plus many more. If it`s a fawn my choice is SMZ`s. This will treat both Ecoli and coccidia.
