How late?

Im sorry to report but I have yet to have a fawn. I have 3 adult does and one yearling (1-5yr, 2-2yrs) that were live covered. My question is how late have you ever had a fawn. What do you think caused this to happen. All three look like they should be pregnat and the little yearling looks to be possibly be showing. She was born june 15 of last year from my 5 yr old. I had bought the doe AIed to waldvogal's vegas but never took and got caught by the backup (lincoln two). All doe were in the pen with the buck as long as i have had them the 2yrs since they were fawns when i bought them and the older one since i got her (except last spring when she was fawning). Do you think to much exposure to the buck would cause this or what? I am at a lose as to y no fawns yet. Could it be my buck? Any in put would be nice.

The latest I have had fawns is August 20....from a yearling doe fawn. I have had some be a month later than the rest. The exposure thing is a non issue I would think. My deer are all together all year except during mating and no problem getting pregnant . Not sure what to say but wait and see for later births than normal....I know this is dumb advise as you have no choice...but time will tell. Jim

too early to hit the panic button yet, but you should be able to tell if they're pregnant at least.

ha you yankees........here in the south, september fawns are "common" and I have had one born as late as december 10th. It was neat to have a christmas fawn

The first year I had my deer, we had a new fawn running around the pen in mid-September. It was from a yearling doe that we had moved over in June and had no idea that she was pregant. The fawn still had spots the first of November and we wondered if it would make it through the winter... they kinda need a winter coat when it's -25:eek:...but he did just fine. Last year, he was just a small spike but this year he is looking really good and seems to have caught up to the other one his age. I guess if they were live bred, I would hope they would have fawned by now.

I put my buck in with my does in first week of September, I still have no fawns. I am completely confused why, we did hay this weekend and seen wild fawns, neighbor hit 6 wild fawns three weeks ago when they did their hay. Why they are breeding earlier outside my pen then inside completely baffles me. To tell you the truth I am frustrated because I have people waiting so they can buy some and they are still not even born, I too am having difficulty telling if some of my yearlings are even pregnent, I have no idea how many weeks/months I have to wait until I finally see a fawn. Strangest thing is my other two years I had all my fawns born before we even got into June.

I wouldnt panic antler shed, Here in northeast PA Im hearing alot of fawns being late blame it on global warming !

We usually have all of our fawns born by June 1, except for an occasional yearling that delivers. This year we have a total of 9 does that were bred. Only 2 of them delivered before June 1, 4 of them delivered between june 1 and June15 and 3 of them are still waiting to deliver. We have NEVER had adult does delivering this late. So far, all the fawns have all been very healthy and all doing well. I guess that is the most important thing.

I think there are a lot of late fawns this year. I heard a lot of births reported early, but just as many reported late.

In my opinion, the moon phase played a part in this odd year. Last fall the full moon was at the end of September, the end of October and the end of November. It was just one of those years that throws things out of whack. When the moon cycles back around in another year or two it should put the heat cycles back in normal sync and births will take place more normally.

Just my opinion
