Wild Rivers Whitetails

I would like to announce that Wild Rivers Whitetails (WRW TV) will have its own TV show starting this Sunday. Right now it will air primarily in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, but we hope to be nationwide in the future. If you are in the Green Bay area it will be on at 12:30 PM on Channel 14 CW. If you receive the Wausau TV stations it will be on at 7 AM on Channel 7 out of Wausau - all starting Sunday the 19th. We are committed for 13 episodes.
We describe it as a cross between outdoor shows, reality TV and the Waltons. The first episode deals with shed antler hunting and we will try to follow the natural progression of things.
Take a look and let us know what you think!!!

By the way for folks in WI - your TV listing may show something different than our show - they just haven't updated the listing yet for some reason. It is definitely going to air at the times above.
We hope to get on a nationwide channel soon, it is just one step at a time here.

There may have been a mix up on the Wausau station this morning . If you didn't get the show I apologize - we are talking to the station to get things squared away.

Well, if you are in the Wausau viewing area we found out it is on 7.2. If you have charter cable it is on 968. You have to find out what channel ESAW is on. If you have satellite you may not get it there yet.
In the Green Bay area if you have Time Warner cable it is channel 10, otherwise channel 14. Kind of crazy keeping track of everything.
In the Wausau area it should air at 7 AM next Sunday again. In the Green Bay market, they put it on at noon instead of 12:30. We would like to keep it at noon so will talk to them about that. Also, the listing did not show our program this week but it will next week.
All the kinks that go into getting a new show off the ground! Thanks for looking - and hopefully you'll get to see it next week.

We are working on that. We have some different start dates on different channels - so once it is up and running on all channels we can post episodes on YouTube after they have aired.
We think the show is very informative, for deer farmers and just anyone interested in whitetails.

Our program will now air in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan starting this Sunday. Air time is 7:30 AM on Sunday and the station will vary depending on where you are. It is on 19.2 over the air, on charter cable it is channel 319 and on Dish it is channel 6519. On Directv it is channel 19 in that area.
We can't put anything on YouTube until we have all the channels on board and an episode has aired there. We'll keep you posted.

Gary -It was interesting to read your posts here on the intro of the TV show. Kinda funny, my family has been saying in just these last few years that we could/should have a ''Reality TV Show'' that surrounds our deer farming. The world loves drama i.e.- ups and downs, success and failure, and we as deer farmers are all too familiar with the ''drama'' of it all. Heck, look how successful that chopper TV show is, and now they got one on taxidermy in Alaska. I would certainly think that through the uniqueness of deer farming and the potential for ''drama'' that this show could go somewhere, not to mention the ''golden opportunity'' through the huge exposure to show the deer farming industry in a positve light. I hope you and Jane have some real fun doing this - wish you guys the best of luck - and I'll be praying for God's hands to be upon it all.

We will see what happens. We want the stars of the show to be the deer - not us. We want to talk about what an amazing animal the whitetail deer is and why we do what we do. We also want it to be informative - the first episode on shed hunting talks about how antlers get their color, and how deer usually drop both antlers close together etc. We've had several people comment how they learned something from the show, both deer farmers and non deer farmers. We want people to see how much we care for our deer and the steps we take to insure they are healthy etc. That is what we want. We do hope to get the show on a national TV station, but it does cost money to do that. We have secured a number of sponsors and that number continues to grow as more people see the show. We will keep you posted.

Just thought I'd let you know we have secured another channel to air our TV show here iin WI. Channel 12 out of Rhinelander will being airing our show next Sunday, the 17th, at 11 AM. So if you are in the northwoods of Wisconsin you can now tune it! The show will start with episode one, so you haven't missed anything yet.

Just wanted to put in a plug for the sponsors of our TV show. No matter where you are you can support Purina, Deerstore.com and EZ ID. We have worked with all these folks for many years. EZ ID supplies our microchips and that is a recognized form of official ID here in WI. Also, without the microchips keeping track of our deer would be nightmare!! Elsie is great to work with.
If you are in WI some of our other sponsors are Stephenson Marketing who has feed mills in north east WI and the Iron Mountain Animal Hospital, who serves both the UP and northeastern WI.
We appreciate these folks being willing to sponsor a show about deerfarming.

We have an episode already filmed on the genetics of white and pied deer. Gary uses some "visual aids" to explain the passing on of genes. That one hasn't aired yet.
We still hope to get our show on a national TV station. We can't put it on YouTube if we want to add any more stations. I think when the first 13 week run is done though we would sell the set on DVD. We've remarked many times that we wished there was a show like this when we started deer farming - it would have saved a lot of mistakes!! We all learn as we go!

Thanks - we are on different episodes on different stations here since some came on board later. I do think once we run through the first 13 episodes on all the stations we will put something together for folks to purchase at a reasonable price.
