ok he is acting 10 percent normal and healthy (he is 4 weeks old) BUT since he was only days old he has had a small cough that was irregular and not often..HOWEVER, now that he stays outside all day when he gets to running around..or right after he drinks his bottel ..he will cough about 5-6 hard coughs in a row..then it is over and he starts playing again! only about 1 time a day...he pees good, poos good, acts well....should I worry? Is coughing EVER "normal"??? Thanks

sorry 100 percent, also he stays in at night time (in a not highly air conditioned room) but is out all day in the 90 plus heat ...he gets in a chicken cop some, could that be hard on him,...going from cool to HOT????????????????

In my experience some fawns develope a cough early and don't get rid of it for a year or more. If it sounds like there is fluid on the lungs I would be concerned about infection. I don't like to over medicate at such an early age, but if I notice a change in milk consumption or attitude I will hit mine with Draxxin and Banamine. If he is still eating well and acting normal I would just keep a close eye on him.
On a side note: Anybody having trouble with a deer having lots of fluid on their lungs, I found a drug last year that is used primarily in small animals. It is called Lasik. It is a diuretic. It saved a couple of fawns for me last year. Good luck Falesha.
