Fawn not eating normally

I have a fawn that is 16days old. (This is my first fawn deer). Yesterday afternoon at her 5:00 feeding she didn't take her entire bottle, then again at 10:00 and again this morning at 6:00. She is acting normal - following me around, running & playing with my dog, licking me on the face every time she gets close to it, peeing & pooping, when she takes her bottle she takes it really really good but before it is finished she just stops and will not take anymore. :confused: Does anyone have any idea why she might be doing this? We haven't put her on grain yet we were going to do that this weekend but she does have dirt and water in her pen inside the house and we take her outside for a couple of hours everyday and she nibbles on the grass.

Roxie, try stimulating her to pee while she is drinking. Sometimes that keeps them interested in their bottle longer.

We start our fawns on pellets and grass by about 5 to 7 days old. They don't eat like tons of it, but they will nibble around on some.
I wonder how much you are feeding her and if it is a normal amount for the type of milk your feeding.
If all else is good I wouldn't be too concerned. We have one who eats less than we "think" she should be for her size and age. She is big and active and her poo is great. She is just a light eater I guess. But like Steve says stimulating her might help. Some fawns can get distracted easy also.

thier all different usually around 4 - 5 wks but have had a few less than 3wks.
This is the time when necro can get an entry, you ususlly see a swollen lower lip,and all the bottom teeth will be loose from the leision, if a fawn is not eating well be sure to check the lupper pallet for a leision as well.

Curtis - if it is her teeth should I be concerned? Or just continue offering her the bottle. I am offering her a little bit of sweet feed and grass right now but she doesn't seem the least bit interested. She will be three weeks old Sunday.

We also don't have access to deer pellets where I am at so I was wondering if a goat pellet with 17% protien would work for her?

The teeth are just part of the normal process, keep giving her the bottle until she returns to norrmal, those goat pellets would be ok but why not just go and pick some dandylion greens and shred them for her to nibble on, they will do as much to get her rumien established as any pellet will
