View Full Version : July antlers...new pics!

OK, so its July and the big boys start to come out of the wood work. Time for a new antler thread. To start it out with a bang here he is REED. Ask and yeah shall receive. I was holding out as a courtesy to the Sudden Impact thread as he deserves some respect, SI is a great deer.
OK, so the mystery buck is named Rolex Time Bomb. He is a 2 year old direct Rolex son out of a Dean Borntragger Eagle/Bambi doe! Double High Rollers mother! He is showing 85-90 points already!!! He grew 6 new points in the last 3 days... This one is going to score serious. He reminds me of Sundance on steroids. Walk Brothers Whitetails has purchased this buck from Valley View Whitetails (Jake Glick). Yes, he was a best keep secret for awhile. There will be a very limited amount of semen sold and that list is started. First come first serve as always. Probably 25 straws for 2009. The price will be set in a week or so but it will be important to be on the semen list in order to get a crack at it. Last year I posted pictures of Rolls Royce my other Rolex son and he was sold out in 10 hours... So what do you guys think for score? I'm pretty excited about this one. I keep thinking if he adds only an average of 1" on each point that's 85-90''!:D I asked Jake what he thought Time Bomb would score and when I said 350", he smiled and said you better keep going.;) For anyone interested in breeding Rolex Time Bomb this year give me a call. (814)330-6861. Its going to be a lot of buck for a fair price. Thanks Russ Jr

I saw a picture of a Yearling today that will blow everyones mind. He is bred right too. In my opinion this yearling could be the biggest clean typical the industry has ever seen. From the picture I saw, he looked like he would finish out as a CLEAN 6x6 and is about 18-20 inches wide. His tines were still growing but were fat and didn't even look close to finishing. The deer is in Missouri and I promised not to post the picture or tell who owned him. I have no idea why, because i would be showing pictures to everyone. Keeping with my promise, i didn't. He said he wanted to "Show Me" the picture.

My phone has been going nonstop since about 9 this morning.I do have a yearling that like all the other bucks just really started coming on in the past few weeks, truth is my computer got hit by lightning in the storms last week and I am on my sons laptop while our tower is being repaired and I am not good enough to load a picture onto this computer. The picture that I sent to a few friends yesterday was on the cellphone and is horrible quality. If someone wants to post it its OK with me,if they know how to do it. Its not that Im keeping him a secret. About 3 weeks ago I noticed he might be something special and he has grown like smoke since. I named him Redline. His sire is Hydro-Axe and his dam is a BW Highracker doe X a Master daughter. BW Highracker is a half brother to Sundowner (both sons of BW Sunny). I feel blessed to have this yearling on my place, now to keep him healthy and going good. This deer puts his head down to eat and doesn't stop all day, I have never seen anything like it. He is far from done growing. I promise some quality pics in the next few days. Don't think this is commonplace for me, I have been breeding with what I believe to be some of the best genetics in the world for 13 or 14 years and this is my passion, just like most of you, I have invested our life savings into this thing and spent all of my spare time pursuing something that means alot to me, while I have grown some good bucks and established a quality doe herd, I have watched others grow the really big boys. I have cheered them all the way and bred with thier bucks when I thought the buck was right for my gameplan. Could it be that I am getting my turn? Time will tell what he will becomes. To tell you the truth I am nervous as I can be right now and don' t know why! Darren

Congrats Darren on Red Line. Of course I have watched this yearling grow with you for awhile now and must say he is getting really, really nice. He has the frame, now we hope those tines grow baby grow... Kurt and all thanks for the great comments on Time Bomb. I to think he is a contender and am pumped to say the least. REED I would get another contest going for Time Bomb but out of respect for the Energizer team I'm going to pass. If you guys could come up with a new and creative idea for a different internet contest for Time Bomb I'm in for a sweet reward... $5,000 in Time Bomb semen or an all inclusive whitetail hunt at Quest Haven Lodge for this fall!!! So there you go now the ball is in your court. Lets here some ideas.

Russ ,I think a contest where each antlers score individually guessed would be a good variation-you could have a prize for each side individually or the combined difference.
example; TIME BOMB'S RIGHT 210"--TIME BOMB'S LEFT 215 2/8"

Why not make it a 50/50? half of the semen sales go into a pot and draw the ticket from the hat to see who wins. This way even farms just starting out can win rather than let's see who grows the biggest yearling

When I talked to Nathan Blosser last fall about High Flyer semen we had bought....he told me that his biggest yearling was out of High Flyer's womb sister and that yearling was BW Grand Canyon. High Flyer is a BW Sunny son and he is out of a BW Goliath doe.

Now that is the way I like to see deer being bred... Even four generations later, Freedom/Rachet is contributing 50% of their blood, just as if they were the direct father to Jailbird.
Keeping it tight... I like it.

Roger,
I viewed that thread a couple of times and I see your point. I think this time of year brings in a lot of "visitors" that just come on and search for the antler growth threads. They may not even look at other parts of the forums. Not making excuses for anyone, just saying that the numbers may not be quite as bad as they seem.

Roger,
You are absolutely right......all these antlers and stuff mean nothing if our industry is shut down.........we all need to focus on where we are headed .........everyone should be reading the forums that talk about issues that could have a direct bearing on our industry....yes Antlers are what drives us but like i said....without the industry thye are worthless!! Make sure you know where your priorities are......but that doesn't mean quit sending the awesome buck pictures.....keep them coming too!!

Yes keep the pics of these really good deer coming. I like that Sunbo. Good mass, up and out frame, with extras for score and character. I really like him.
Michael, you are correct. There are a lot of visitors just on to look. Nothing wrong with those who aren't in the business knowing we get jacked around and we are getting tired of it, and those who are in the business need to wake up or they won't be in the business much longer.
Again, Sunbo is awesome.

He is not far enough along but since I have a straw on WE, I thought I'd go ahead and post these.
This is 44-Mag. He was 287 last year at 6 with 36 points. This year he has twice the mass and already has 44 ponts with a possible 4 drops just getting started. I expect him to finish in the 325-350 range and has a HOG frame to go with his high score. I think Dan is doing a good job of feeding him!!!!
I also have gotten several e-mails of huge sons out there over 200 at 2.

Is it some type of fly trap?

It is a tether ball coated with insect paste - if you could zoom you would see covered with horse flys and deer flys - they hunt by sight and when they land on the ball as it blows in wind they are trapped - balls will turn black with flys in just couple weeks and then we change them out - we use one about every acre and it really does good job controlling pestering horse flys

Just use one straw and let every growing season bring joy to see the width mass mix with your doe.

Texas Tea is a yearling that was born and raised on our farm. His sire is Texas Stickers (352"@6) and his dam is a Wildman (260"@2) 1/2 sister. The anchor doe is a Super Doe on Barkley and Cole's farm. Her daughters have produced some of the best deer on their entire farm.
He's not as far along as some of the other yearlings, but I think he has some great potential with a good frame and some "stickers" started in the right places. This is the only video that will be released until he grows out.

Here is a 2 year old, we call Er short for Ernie one of three womb brothers we call Bud, Weis and Er. This year is our first year crop of 2 year olds. Is this buck worth drawing semen from. He is out of Chance who is a Bucky Jr. and Maxbo's XL mother (Buddy doe). The bottom side is Redoy Hightop and Winchester. Let me know what you think.

He looks great to me Paul. I'd definitely pull some semen, if not for anything else but just to have. I mean you never know. Nice 2 year old, congrats.

Hey Steve, all 5 of our Timberjack/Marti Gras yearlings look good. Our smallest one is a 5x5 that will be in the 150's and our biggest one "Tim McGraw" is for sure gonna be over 200+." So, I would say all of the sisters of those bucks will be dynamite. Timberjack and Marti Gras seem to work well together.

That's a good looking buck, a few more extras than I like, but like I said, he looks good. Nice main frame 10 and good tines too. Those extras will definately help him score big, and that always helps.
