I finally had to drive the 2 1/2 hours down to see Darren Deckard's yearling "Redline". I walked in his pen and up came this deer that looked like a yearling body with a 3 year old rack. I couldn't believe it! He was the biggest typical yearling I've ever seen. He is about 21 or 22 inside and .......well just simply gorgeous! Congrats Darren on a heck of a yearling! (I told him I'll take a breeding instead of a straw of semen for taking these pictures!) - Sam

What a great looking yearling Darren. Now this fall you have to decide what yearling to use on what doe. Redline or WWF Energizer. Now that's a great problem to have. See you in a couple weeks and again, awesome buck!!

I asked Iassac Follette to make a video with the footage Sam took of Redline He said he would have it up sometime today,it will be on this thread with a link to Da Buck channel. Redline already looks like a totally different deer than in the video. Thanks Iassac!

I have kids in every sport imaginable, bottle feeding taking care of big deer, mowing , brushogging, getting ready for Kieth Warren to come film my farm in a few days and aq million other things, I am a perfectionist and try to leave no stones unturned. I have had lots of offers to buy Redline or a part of him in the last few weeks. Thanks for all the compliments, but I am going to turn my phone off for a few days to spend time with my family and take care of my deer like I need to. Inthe next few weeks it will be time for everyone to start visiting farms and I want to be ready for that. If you are in the area be sure to stop by! Darren:)

Thanks for all the compliments on Redline, but he is not a product of my efforts alone. There are hundreds of combined years of effort in this yearling and he was bound to pop up somewhere. The Griffith Bros. , Curt Waldvogel,Dean Borntrager,Mark Pierce,Nathan Blosser,The Walks,Glen Lambright and many others have put a lot of hard work into thier programs and all of thier efforts are represented here. That is the beauty of this thing, through AI we are able to leapfrog light years geneticly.I like to think of the canine industry.Man only had coyotes and wolfs to start with and in a few centuries of selective breeding there are now breeds from the miniatures to mastiffs.NEVER DOUBT THE POWER OF SELECTIVE BREEDING--IT WORKS!!! I will post new pictures of Redline in about 3 weeks,it blows my mind how much antler he is puttind on every day.People have started coming by to see him-I hope you will stop by if your in the area. Darren, now that is the truth if I have ever heard it! Guys re-read this quote. You nailed the art and value of breeding in a few sentences. I've always said semen is soooooo cheap. I cannot think of any other competitive business that allows you to buy the heart and soul of everything one has developed and worked for in over 10, 20 or even 30+ years of imagination, invested time, money, risk and good ole hard work, in an instant. When you think about it $5,000??? for elite semen is very reasonable. It is not what you pay but what you get that is important. AI has change the whitetail industry fast. Just think of this..... What bucks will have no AI influence in there pedigree, that you would be willing to use this year? I'm having a hard time coming up with any! If AI would have never been used in the deer business where would we be today? Now think of this...... We know AI has proven to create massive genetic gains across the country....... when the next wave of super bucks emerge in the future will you be a part of that movement? I personally believe that there will be a 600" whitetail in the future and also believe he may be born right now. I know....:o chuckle a little, but remember when you said there would never be a 200" yearling or 400" mature monster. Guys we may have a 300" yearling this year, we have had a 400" 2 year old last year. AI is absolutely cheap when considering the evolution of this business. Thanks Darren for some outstand thoughts. Now back to Redline. Where are those updated pics? :D

man jr sure hard to follow that last post .I hate to say it but we can not stress it enough to the new farmers ,take your time when buying your foundation stock .If you buy a lot of deer just to have deer on your place it may take you years to correct what you have done ,or a lot of money just wasted .I have heard many times by many big deer farmers that it cost the same to feed great deer as it is to feed the worst deer in a pen . We as deer farmers should always be looking to the future it really takes years to produce a great deer or even find out how great a deer really is .Just look at the time from which a doe is born till her first buck fawn may show you what they can do .How many times have we already sold a doe just to find out that she has produced the best buck on our place .Oh yeah just where are those new red line pics ?

 I hate to put up anymore pics until hes finished out,he is pouring it on every day. When I take a pic and look at it 3 days later he doesnt look like the same deer.He has a great frame and is showing 7x7 with lots of kickers. His beams are as big around at the ends now as they have been at any other point.
