Can anyone tell me what the average antler weight is for a reindeer and how much they are going for right now?
I know this varies dramatically depending on antler genetics- I am just looking for some figures for a hypothetical budget.
thanks everybody!

Are you looking for dry weight on reindeer cow antlers or reindeer bull antlers?
Either way, naturally shed grade reindeer antler (not caribou) seems to be selling for about 10 bucks per pound across the board. There is just not that much out there.
There is not much reindeer antler out there on the velvet anlter market. Too many people raising reindeer as exhibition animals and need the hard antlers on their animals for Christmas time.

I would recomend that you contact Gary and Carol Borton for any info on reindeer farming you may need They are near Kalamazoo Mi. The name of their farm is Reindeer Ranch LLC. They have a website Here is the link: www.reindeerranch.ws They wrote the book on reindeer.....really

Gary and Carol have been raising reindeer for some time. I have seen their herd and met them as well. They would be a good contact for information. Never heard of a book written by the Bortons. Gordon Poest from MI has written a book on reindeer, as well as Tilly Smith from UK. Both are nice books.
As for moving live deer out of the lower MI, that could be challenging.
