mother unknown..... that completely opposite to humans, I would bet that she has a line of breeding that will like other bucks in the past that looked like they came out of nowhere but with a little detective work the path to big antlers shows ityself, sometimes it takes years for the pattern to show itself

I have 2 MartyGraw does that I will be breeding to Rancher this year. The thing that makes this cross so interesting is that Rancher is a son of Full House and Full House and Marty Graw have the same mother. One of my MartGraw does is from a Thunder mother and the other is from a Highroller mother. Hopefully a giant 6x6 or 7x7 typical will result ... time will tell.
Oh, and I also have some Pretty Boy Floyd semen to work in there at some point.

Don and Aaron, I also have a martygraw doe and some straws of Rancher but not sure if I am going to use Pretty Boy Floyd or Rancher on her this year. Or also a possible TYPICAL secret weapon.

Since We are interested in Typical mixes. What do you guys have as your most powerful typical on typical for this coming year? Which combination do you see as being your best typical fawns? I Have a Whiley doe Live bred to Amos that Im hoping throws out some huge perfect typs.

Hey guys, since we don't know the dam side of Pretty Boy Floyd, what kind of breeding do you think caused him to look like that? I don't want any real answers, I just wanna know what you guys speculate caused the deer to look like that.
He's kind of wide and lays out like some of the classic 200" bucks of the past. Does Marti Graw produce bucks that lay out instead of going straight up? What do you guys think?

I don't know all the doe lines Mark had in with Martygraw that year, but, I know he had lines such as Pharaoh, Big John, Max, PA Geronimo, and Cisco/Scar. I know their where others, just don't know what they were.
That being said, he lays out kind of like Bucky and Bucky Jr. do. Go Figure.
TRO
If I had to speculate I would say our best typ on typ would have to be Jed Typ 10 (5X5) 247@2 (Martygraw son) on bottom and Pretty Boy Floyd Typ 13 (6X7) 235@2 (Martygraw son) on top. I know Pretty Boy was bigger this year at 3 and is a Typ 15 (7X8), I just don't know the accurate score. Would hope to see a couple of bucks out of her, Martygraw top and bottom, should be interesting.

That does sound like a bad mix at all!! You know of any pictures of JED out there? Clean 5x5? 247? That is a huge 10 ptr!!

04-09-2009, 06:28 PM
Mark Pierce had some 1 year old pics when he was 170"+ 5X5, but I don't know of any others. I think he shed deep at 2 and went non-typ on his right side at 3. I can tell you seeing him in the pen with Hydro-Ax, Sky High, and Pretty Boy Floyd he fit right in with them. And yes he was Huge! I think that score is correct, as far as I can remember anyway, if someone knows different, please let us know.
He, along with everything else that year took a back seat to Hydro-Ax 275"@2, that is why not to many people know of them or are just finding out. I am lucky enough to live close enough to Mark to get to go see them every year.

By the way, he had some extras @2, not clean, but not bad at all. Sickers, a split or to, and some extras, but like I said, he still looked good, had alot of mass.

Hey folks, What about a doe who's sire is RDM 44 Mag ( 280+ 8 X 8 main frame) bred to Marty Graw. We have all seen what Marty Graw can do. We will be putting a choice doe fawn on W.E. soon. The does are daughters of Thunder, BW Sunny, 44 Mag and MaxHi. The reason these does were bred to Marty Graw was frame X frame producer.

Mike,
Hope you keep a few bucks around out of those mixes. Can't wait to see em grow. As you already know we have a few to Martgraw this year too. It will be am interesting next couple of years to watch all of these super bred Martygraw sons grow. I will watch for the fawns on WE.

I'm glad to see that you guys like the crosses and you might be interested in them down the road. We need to see if we can post an unborn 09 fawn on W.E. or not. There had been some discussion about it earlier. Hope to put her on soon.

JDR, grats on the Proud Eagle inpregnation! I have a Proud Eagle Doe which Rod let me live cover to Rancher, last fall:) I was just out to that "Little known deer farmer in Michigans" place today. The girls got baby bumps and the boys got baby bumps on thier heads:D It has'nt been warm up here in Mi. but Rancher is up between 2" and 3" he is looking great. Blue 33 seemed to be a consistant good producer for All Out Whitetails. Unfortunately she died last spring. She had complications birthing triplets. Rod saved a doe and buck fawn out that ordeal. They are out of Big Guy. She had 4 sets of fawns total. Proud Eagle and his Brothers (trips) in 05, Rancher and his brother High Rise in 06, twin does out of Silverstorm in 07 and 1 buck,and1 doe out of Big guy in 08. Good luck on the Proud Eagle sons and daughters!

Don, I cant let out the big secrets on here!! You know that! Dont say we have something in common, thats scary. Im sure you could elaborate on some of your postings and replys as well. You have a secret weapon?? Im tempted to put a straw on WE but seeing what barely proven typicals are bringing I dont want to chance it until I have giants to show that this is what this dude can produce. I may work out some deals with guys that are interested in sending me a personal message. Il supply the straw for a buck or doe fawn in exchange depending on what the straw is going into. Im looking for Rancher, Pretty boy floyd, and Martygraw does. And Im looking for those 3 does to buy anyways so anyone out there that is willing to work out some deals get ahold of me.

TRO- you got a new handle since these message boards moved didnt you??? I didnt realize who I was talking to ...... didnt realize it was one of those radicals!!:) Dont we already have a deal for one of those secret weapon straws to come my way?
On the subject of typicals; on the Wednesday night auction there is a straw of Englunds Maximus, does anyone have any sons from him or know of any sons of him? I used him on 1 doe last fall

Yeap! Ive always got to stay one step ahead of you Don. I was wondering how long it would take for an old dog to catch on to new tricks. haha... But, yeah since Im a nice guy I already made a deal with you! You help us out enough that I dont mind giving you a sample of the best secret weapon out there. I know when that monster pops up on your farm youll remember that it was a RADICAL that gave you the straw!!! hopefully everything turns out for the best with these typical lines and we can get the best combinations possible to achieve that 250" 7x7!!

Jed damaged his left pedical @2 and still scored around 247". Mark Pierce has a video of Jed, Hydroax, Pretty Boy Floyd and Skyhigh when they were 3. Very impressive. Mark's biggest yearling was out of Jed last year. We have a Jed doe bred back to Pretty Boy Floyd. Can't wait to see the results.

I would have to agree with you guys!! Mark is writing the book! One day when each of us have our huge typical producers like Martygraw, we will become the authors. We all get to use PBF and Martygraw to help get our golden buck but it just takes time. Martygraw Rancher and PBF should all be exploding soon due to the typical wants. Only takes time before I have my 7x7 that everyone is going to be loving. The years that I have been in this business I have learned one thing. Always gotta stay positive, have high hopes, and set your goals high. well i guess 3 things.

We used a buck that was defineately on his way to being a great typical producer. He was around the 215" - 220" mark at 2 with very little side to side deduction. He HAD it mass, width, 6X6, tine length you name it. Next year he went 242 hard horn score and went COMPLETELY non typical. Terrible look. Needless to say he is now gone.

Aaron, What all do you have with Pretty Boy Floyd? You have any straws from him still or does for sale out of him or what are you working with?
And If you were wondering who I am I bought Lucy from you haha. I cant tell if you knew who I am when I switched to the new forums. Lucy is still doing amazing!! Her fawn runs wild with a doe bred to GB Buckster not tame at all!!

Thats the great Storm genetics at their best. Beautiful typical genetics just a little on the wild side. We have all of the Floyd stuff "locked down" till we see what it does. Right now we have a little of this and a little of that bred. Will fill you in when we see some horns!
T.R.O. - What kind of deal will you work out with this buck you are talking about? I may have some does that would work into what you are talking about. :)
Aaron CCDR- Do you have any Rancher, Pretty boy Floyd, and Martygraw does that you are planning on using? If not what kind of typical does do you have that you are planning on using to establish your typical herd?

A couple weeks ago I listed a Jack jr. (Jack the Ripper) and a Bodatious (Pride/Dreamer) doe both bred to Rancher in the ad section. I have now decided to keep these does and sell ONE fawn out of each of them. If any one is interested in Rancher fawns, let me know.

Thinking about selling a Marty Graw X Redoy Roller 2008 doe. Do you think there might be any interest in her? I have several on this line of breeding so I might let one go.
IndependenceRanch
04-14-2009, 11:30 AM
Aaron that should be a good cross there. Redoy Roller is very good breeding going back to Pebbles on the bottom side. Also having those long tines and a great looking frame he should mix well with Marty Graw.
Since everyone is so excited about Pretty Boy Floyd I wonder how many will be bidding on the lot in the sale that runs today and tomorrow? I thought about bidding myself but will stay out of it this time. I wouldn't mind getting a doe out of a Pretty Boy Floyd x Buckeye cross. Big frames and 6x6 or better mainframes. A little girl out of that will give someone a great jump towards the big typicals.
As far as I can see that is the only offering like it in the auction. It is lot number 76.

I think you would have good interest in that doe. I really like that combination. I have a 3 year old doe that is Redoy Roller / R4 (B&B Genetics doe). We AId her to Weatherby. I have my fingers crossed that this combonation will work.

Greg,
That is what we were thinking too in planning the breeding. Redoy Roller had a very nice frame that just needed cleaned up. Hopefully the Martygraw will do just that. I also am trying Vortex X Redoy Roller doe bred to Martygraw. Hopefully it works for us. Do you have any bucks out of your Redoy Roller yet.

I'm thinking of a future buck named Pretty Rancher. Maby a 9 x 9 mainframe 6 tines over 12". Wouldn't that suck. By the way what is the inside spread on Rancher?

I am not sure on the spread. Rod Syers is the owner and his contact information is on whitetailquest.com. Pretty Rancher!! I like that! A 9x9 is one long mainbeam!! It would be nice to get one of those though. If it happens to you be sure to let me know!! lol
