We currently use a livestock tag, metal 9 diget state tag for transportation, plus a tattoo. My ? is we have had some trouble with the metal tags, tearing or causing slight ear droop. We have have bought deer from other states with the round plastic id number in one ear and a matching livestock tag in the other we don't currently use these but have thought about swithching they tell me i need to get a premise id no. from my ag dept and they will supply the tags. Just wanted to know what the general thought on this was or is tier a better way!
Thanks in advance Wayne |

Wayne, I'm useing the RFID tags and have had good luck with them so far. Only had one toren out in three years and she tore it out 5 minutes after I put it in. Some guys will get crazy about the RFID tags from the states. They think their deer can be tracked while going down the road and the goverment is tracking their every movement. To each their own. I've had a great experience with them so far. Good luck with this can of worms...lol

Painted, how deep in the ear do you set them? I out them very deep in the ear to help prevent them from tearing out as bad.
