I've had to do plans like that a few times. I usually start by breaking it down, either by task or by month. Going by task is easier for me, but I know of people that find going by month easier. I create separate plans for the does, bucks and fawns. Once I have each one right I put them on a calendar. If you'd like to see one of my plans I can message you one.

Could you also please email a copy of your plans to mrobicheaux@brittcam.com. We are new to deer farming and are looking for any guidance. Many thanks

Smile Plan

FawnMommyx3.5, I would also be interested in reading your plan. This could spread like Rick's Red Cap feeding schedule. My email address is ahbiser@hotmail.com Thanks. Allen

I'll send it, but here's my concern. I got into the deer thing less than a year ago when I was asked to help bottle feed and I'm still learning quite a bit myself. In May I'll be graduating with my Bachelor's in Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Medicine. I learned how to make plans like this from my classes on management and medicine. None of my plans have ever been used, although I have gotten top marks on each one. The plan I have for a deer operation have never been used. The guy I work for has seen bits and pieces and has always rejected what I've recommended-but I don't know why(if anyone that sees it can explain I'd really appreciate it). But the plan I have was created based on his operation, the vaccines I think he needs, the time of year his fawns are born. There's a very good chance this exact plan won't work for anyone else. But it is based on the medicine and management concepts I've been taught in college. If you guys are willing to wait a few days I'd like to add the concepts to the plan I have before I send it. That way you understand my thought process when you read it.

FawnMommy, I understand your concern and appreciate your candor. I would still be interested in obtaing your plans since it is based on scientific findings not pure trial and error. I think a good approach would be to have someone who has been in the business review it and suggest any changes they feel might benefit the overall plan. I would be happy to assit in this effort as I know someone who has a great deal of experience but does not have the scientific background. Thanks

So far its been reviewed by a few fellow pre-vet students and a veterinarian. Dr. Shane Donley confirmed for me that the vaccine part works. I actually created that part based on a conversation I had with him. My reviewers thought it would work, but it was labor intensive at times and since it was based on having a chute system it wouldn't work for a lot of people. If you know of someone with a lot of experience that would be willing to review it I have no problem at all with that.

If anyone is going to be at NADeFA this year I'd be happy to talk face to face about things. I'll be there Thursday and Friday. Not sure about Saturday yet.

I should be able to send it out Thursday afternoon. Classes and an internship have had me busy the past few days.
